When did you start blogging, and what prompted your decision to go ahead?

Blogging is something that I had considered for months before taking the plunge – I was constantly creating posts in my head, thinking of titles but chickening out when I considered what other people might think. I thought about it for so long and then just decided to ‘go for it’. Having done a course in Freelance Journalism, I wanted to get some practice in and blogging was a great way to ‘showcase’ my writing.

Does blogging ‘connect’ to your working life in anyway?

It didn’t then but does now! I have recently given our company website a complete overhaul which will now involve me keeping it updated and also starting a business blog.

Tell us about your personal top three favourite posts from your blog...

That’s a tough one. If I had to pick three favourites, I’d probably go for:

The See-saw World of Parenting - my blog is a place of honesty and I like to make readers feel ‘at home’ by sharing the things I struggle with and believe me, there are many!

Has God Been Dumped by the Brownies? – every now and again I use my blog as a soap box and I love to encourage others to share their views.

Can You Be a Parent and a Friend? – another post which got people sharing their opinions and for me, that’s what blogging is all about.

What do you look for when reading other blogs?

Firstly I look for an engaging writing style. Obviously if I can relate to someone’s life then all the better but some of the bloggers I have connected with, have much younger or older children than mine but their personality really comes across in their writing. I’m a bit of a stickler for spelling and grammar so if that’s all over the place, I tend to get turned off quite quickly!

How do your family and friends feel about your blogging habit?

I’m not convinced that they all completely ‘get’ it but they love me so have been very supportive. I haven’t shared my new-found addiction with all my friends as I know some may think I’m a little odd!

What do you hope your kids will make of the blog one day?

My children have a kind of love/hate relationship with my blog. With them being a little older, I recently had to have an adjustment to how I write. They do love the odd freebie though and of course we’ve had a few great day trips in return for a review - Thorpe Park being a particular highlight! I do hope one day, that they will see my blog as a wonderful way of recording our family history and maybe even a useful tool in how (not) to parent!

What do you enjoy about being a Trusted Blogger Club member?

Initially I saw it as another opportunity to showcase my writing skills. Since joining however, I realise there’s more to it than that – I love that the Club shares my own personal blog posts and encourages us to communicate with one another, aiming to build on the already fabulous blogging community.

You can only write one more post on your own blog; what would the topic be?

It would probably be a sentimental post on what I’ve gained from being a mother (just in case I was knocked over by a bus later that day and these were my parting words!).
